4x12AX7 + 2xEL34 is the classic Marshall configuration and that's what it does and why I bought it (Ashdown are local to me and it replaced a TSL). Almost as soon as I did so, I moved to another band and as this rig blows the other guitarist away I'm now restricted to 30w and a 2x12 :-) So she has been sitting in my studio unused for a year and is virtually AS NEW. The head is pristine but the cab has a small rip in the tolex. (Don't worry it'll get plenty more if you really plan to use it:-).
I've had a lot of gear and there is a lot of crap talked. No disrespect to Jim Marshall who is a legend, but this is better than any Marshall I've used, perfect for both classic rock and nu-metal. If you're hung up on image, what this says is you know your stuff. It looks the bizniss on stage - check out some of the clips of U2 who are one of the bands who use Ashdown gear.
