Mirabela is a 27 year-old Romanian girl from Reghin, a town in the centre of Romania. She would like to come to the UK as anau pair for at least one year or longer. She wants to be an au pair because she thinks that looking after children is a very enjoyable job.

She graduated from the Faculty of Law in 2004. She worked as a broker for 5 years – she liked the job, but described it as a really stressful and demanding one. She also worked part time as an assistant manager. She is currently unemployed.

After working for 5 years as a broker, she decided that she wants a job that is stress free. She wants to start a new career in the UK, but would like a job that allows her first the opportunity to get to know the country and how the culture is here.

Mirabela likes dancing and reading. She likes sports like: cycling, aerobics, swimming, basketball and roller skating. When she has some free time she likes cooking and reading.

She is a smoker (she smokes about 5 cigarettes a day) but commits not to smoke in front of the children or in and around the house.


Childcare Experience: In July 2008 she went with her niece (3 years old) to Greece. She stayed there for 3 weeks while the parents were on holiday. She took her for walks on the beach, drew pictures, helped her to build sand castles, helped her with meals her, etc. She liked telling her bed time stories and she was falling asleep after 10-15 minutes. She enjoyed the experience and said that even though she was alone with the girl on holiday, she didn’t get bored. Occasionally she babysits for some friends for 5 or 6 hours a day and during the weekend. They have 2 boys (3 and 7 years old). She is also looking after another couple’s girl when they are away (but this is not very often). When she goes for barbecues with her friends she is usually the one who is looking after the children.

English Skills: Her English was fluent (she has studied it for 12 years). She is used speaking to foreigners because of her previous job, so she doesn’t have any problems in expressing herself.

Other languages: Her Mother tongue is Romanian and she also speaks French (fluent), Italian (fluent) and Spanish (basic).

Housework: Mirabela is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), shopping (Food, Groceries), care for children or older children, washing, ironing, cooking for children and for family, gardening, handiwork, driving and caring for pets.

Character: Mirabela considers herself a very active and dynamic person, creative, friendly, warm, polite and an optimist.

Eating: Mirabela described herself as not being picky regarding food. Her favorite food is oriental or Italian dishes.

Driving: Mirabela passed her driving test in 2003. She drives daily, has her own car (a Matiz) and considers herself a confident driver.

Family: She has her own apartment in Cluj Napoca and lives there alone with her cat. Her Mum (52 years old) is an insurance inspector and her Father (54 years old) is a technical manager.
