Degree or Diploma in Social Work is essential, as is experience carrying out statutory children and families social work and a sound knowledge of the Children’s Act. Experience working within a school setting is desirable, although there is the opportunity for this to be gained. The post involves working with children and young people, making assessments of children, designing action plans, co-ordinating partnership meetings with other agencies and making recommendations to other departments. The post with an Essex social services department offers competitive rates of pay and the opportunity for immediate work.
