Shaping your future is part of East Potential’s commitment to providing employment and training opportunities for people living in Barking and Dagenham.

Our free accredited employment training programmes are designed to offer people living in the borough the chance to develop their skills, boost their confidence and explore different career options to find meaningful employment.

Our programmes include

Routes to Work – offering training, work experience and business mentoring opportunities in all employment sectors including, administration, housing, catering and community involvement.

Open Doors – providing careers guidance, CV and application form workshops, interview skills workshops, personal development and confidence building workshops, IT training and accreditation and the opportunity to partake in a team building activity fun day out.

Construct your Career – running taster sessions and practical hands-on training and work experience in the construction industry with the opportunity to gain a C&G Multi Skills qualification and CSCS Card.

Workwise – a weekly drop-in job-search and careers guidance service for participants who require some extra one to one advice and guidance in employment, job searching and applications.


All participants will be offered support to improve their IT, English and Maths skills with the chance to gain an accredited qualification.

Financial support may be available to help with travel and childcare costs.

To take part you must fit the following criteria

Be unemployed
Be over the age of 20
Be a resident of Barking and Dagenham
Live in social housing or be receiving housing benefit
Be eligible to work in the UK
Have recourse to public funds
